Job Description

Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Experience a rewarding contract role as a Full Time Hearing Impaired Teacher specializing in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education. In this dynamic, itinerant position, you'll have the opportunity to impact students across 10 schools serving K-8 grades, including developmental preschool classrooms. You'll make a difference for an initial caseload of about 25 students, helping them thrive academically and socially using your specialized expertise.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience:
Current certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Experience adapting curriculum and instruction for students with hearing impairments, preferably at the K-8 level Strong knowledge of assistive listening technology (FM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants) Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families Skilled in both spoken English and, if applicable, American Sign Language (ASL) Organized, flexible, and comfortable working at multiple school sites
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct and indirect educational services to students with hearing impairments across assigned schools Assess students' needs and adapt instructional materials to ensure access to the curriculum Work closely with general education teachers and related service providers to support inclusive practices Offer guidance and training to staff, parents, and peers on communication strategies and hearing technologies Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, documenting student progress Travel between schools as an itinerant professional and efficiently manage your own schedule Experience the unique satisfaction of supporting students' growth in a diverse, multi-campus environment.
