In this role, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with a range of developmental disabilities, including autism, hearing impairments, visual impairments, and other complex needs. Your expertise will help foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic growth, social development, and independence for each student. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a comprehensive understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), and a passion for empowering children with diverse learning needs. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to students' unique abilities and goals, incorporating curriculum development strategies and evidence-based practices. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavioral specialists, to support comprehensive student development. Manage classroom environments effectively through classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement. Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor progress and inform instructional adjustments. Design and deliver specialized instruction in areas such as literacy education, math, early childhood education, and life skills. Utilize learning technology and instructional design principles to enhance student learning experiences. Facilitate communication with families regarding student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral health strategies. Implement behavioral therapy techniques, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and other behavioral health interventions as needed. Support students in developing social-emotional skills through recreational therapy, music therapy, or other therapeutic modalities. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavior management plans, and compliance with educational standards. Assist in transitioning students through different educational stages by providing early intervention services or preschool experience when applicable. Experience Prior classroom experience working with children with disabilities in diverse settings such as private schools or early intervention programs. Demonstrated expertise in working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), hearing impairments—including deaf education—and visual impairments. Proven ability to develop effective lesson plans aligned with IEP objectives and standards. Experience applying behavioral health strategies such as behavioral management and behavioral therapy techniques. Familiarity with teaching physical education or integrating recreational activities into the curriculum. Knowledge of literacy education, math instruction, and early childhood development principles. Strong communication skills for mentoring colleagues, advising parents, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. Competence in using learning technology tools for instructional purposes and data collection. Experience proofreading educational materials or assessments to ensure clarity and accuracy.
