Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. This role involves designing and implementing individualized instruction plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and independence for all students. Duties Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal regulations to support students' unique learning needs. Design and deliver engaging lesson plans across core subjects such as literacy, math, and communication skills, integrating educational technology as appropriate. Utilize evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques and behavior management strategies to support students with behavioral challenges. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other professionals to coordinate comprehensive student support services. Conduct assessments to monitor student progress, prepare detailed reports, and adjust instructional methods accordingly. Manage classroom environments effectively to promote positive behavior, safety, and active participation among students. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for continued development. Implement instructional modifications and accommodations in accordance with each student's IEP to facilitate access to the curriculum. Prepare students for standardized testing while ensuring compliance with special education law and best practices. Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, early intervention techniques, autism support strategies, and inclusive education practices. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; a valid teaching certification in special education is required. Proven experience working with children with disabilities in classroom settings, including elementary or preschool environments. Demonstrated knowledge of special education law (IDEA), IEP development, and instructional modifications. Strong understanding of childhood development principles, early intervention methods, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder. Proficiency in classroom management techniques and behavior management for students with diverse needs. Experience integrating educational technology tools into lesson planning and instruction. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external specialists. Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate individual learning styles and developmental levels. Familiarity with literacy education, math instruction, speech therapy techniques, and behavioral health concepts.
