•Do not apply if you are not a credentialed teacher. •Do not apply if you are not legally permitted to work in the US High School Special Education / English Teacher Bayhill School — Berkeley, CA Bayhill School is a small, WASC-accredited independent school in Berkeley serving students in grades 7-12 with learning differences including dyslexia and ADHD. Our students have average to above-average intelligence and thrive with creative, relational instruction, assistive technology, and teachers who genuinely invest in them. With A-G coursework and CDE certification as a non-public school, Bayhill prepares students for success in high school, college, and life. We're seeking a passionate English teacher to bring the Common Core, A-G curriculum to life in inventive and flexible ways. An Education Specialist credential is preferred; teacher interns will also be considered. Why Bayhill? Classes of 8-12 students. No caseload management. Just great teaching. Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Design engaging, high-quality lesson plans aligned with California Common Core Standards and grade-level requirements, tailored to students' individual learning profiles Draw on a diverse range of materials and instructional approaches, avoiding over-reliance on any single method Review assessment data to understand each student's history, strengths, and needs Special Education Support Collaborate with IEP case managers to implement and monitor individualized education goals relevant to English coursework Attend treatment planning meetings; provide timely, specific student progress data Develop and apply targeted strategies and interventions to support student growth Classroom & Community Cultivate a safe, structured, and positive learning environment with clear expectations and consistent follow-through Model respectful communication and equitable treatment for all students Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while building genuine, supportive relationships Participate in school events, staff meetings, extracurricular activities, and Parent-Teacher Conferences Maintain weekly grade records in Jupiter Grades and produce accurate progress notes, reports, and benchmarks Uphold confidentiality of all student records Contribute to the WASC accreditation process and complete required NPS compliance trainings Compensation & Benefits Highly competitive salary Medical, dental, and vision insurance — 90% employer-covered for employees, with contributions toward dependents Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) 403(b) retirement plan with employer contribution

$56,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
