Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful opportunity working as a full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving students in an itinerant capacity near Camarillo, CA. This is a contract position, newly available, perfect for professionals passionate about empowering students with visual impairments to reach their academic and personal goals. Your dedication will make a direct and positive impact on students, offering a blend of consultative and instructional support. The majority of your work will involve collaborating with general education teachers, families, and staff, providing expert guidance and accommodations to ensure student success. Some direct braille instruction will also be part of your responsibilities, supporting student independence and skill-building.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid teaching certification for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience with consultative services in educational settings Proficiency in braille instruction and/or willingness to expand braille skills Strong ability to travel between sites in an itinerant role Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Organizational skills to manage schedules and documentation efficiently
Responsibilities Include:
Provide consultative services to staff and families regarding accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology Deliver direct instruction in braille and other skills as determined by student needs Conduct assessments to support student access and progress Develop and contribute to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Liaise consistently with multidisciplinary teams and maintain clear documentation Advocate for equitable access and support within classrooms Embrace the flexibility of a contract position, working 6 hours each day within a collaborative, student-centered atmosphere.
