About the Employer The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary Job Summary The North Orange County SELPA and its member local education agencies (LEAs) work collaboratively to coordinate general and special education services, focusing on the prevention and early intervention of suspected disabilities. The SELPA ensures individuals with disabilities receive appropriate educational services by partnering with public and private agencies to deliver comprehensive special education support. The Orange County Department of Education serves as the Administrative Unit for the North Orange County SELPA. The districts we serve are Buena Park SD, Fullerton SD, Fullerton Joint Union High SD, La Habra City SD, Lowell Joint SD. We are currently seeking a Teacher to join our team within the North Orange County SELPA under the Orange County Department of Education's Special Education Division. Qualifications Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor Degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university • Recent experience teaching infants, toddlers, children and youth (birth to 22 years of age) who are blind or who have low vision within the full range of placement options.
Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements:
• Possession and maintenance of a valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction in Special Education for students with visual handicaps. • Authorization to provide instruction for English language development (ELD) and specially designed academic instruction delivered in English (SDAIE) to English learners. Appropriate credentials include a Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Instruction Teaching Credential with English learner authorization; CLAD (Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development) or BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development) authorizations; or Certificate of Completion of Staff Development (AB2913/SB395 training). • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov. • Valid California Driver's License and the ability to drive between school sites throughout Orange County.
