Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, serving multiple schools near Hayward, CA. This onsite role begins August 10, 2026, and continues through June 4, 2026, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. In this itinerant position, you'll make a meaningful difference across various school sites, providing in-person services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This position replaces a previously virtual DHH role, so only onsite support is needed. Ideal candidates bring prior California experience, demonstrate strong organization, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families. You'll maintain a manageable caseload and collaborate with colleagues to foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Active California credential or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Experience serving DHH students, ideally within California schools Proficient in providing direct in-person services across multiple campus locations Strong organizational habits and time management Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to adapt to various learning styles and needs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students per their IEPs Travel between assigned school sites as an itinerant educator Collaborate closely with general and special education staff Regularly monitor student progress, write reports, and participate in IEP meetings Build relationships with students, staff, and families, advocating for student needs This contract position offers a meaningful, hands-on experience supporting diverse learners in the Hayward area.
