Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, provides instruction to special education students individually and/or general classroom setting.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Provides direct instructional support to students with special needs, individually and/or general classroom setting.
- Provides consultation to staff and parents of special needs students.
- Conducts assessments, develops IEPs and participates in IEP meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- District standards and benchmarks.
- District core curriculum.
- Special education regulations.
- A variety of instructional strategies appropriate for different disability types.
- Successful collaboration and co-teaching strategies.
Ability to:
- Provide special education assessments.
- Write legally compliant and educationally meaningful assessment reports.
- Work in a collaborative relationship with parents, and general and special education staff members.
- Develop and implement a functional behavior plan.
- Provide staff development.
