Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference by supporting students with visual impairments in an educational setting near Lancaster, CA. As a valued educator in this contract role, you'll work directly with students, helping them access curricula, develop essential life skills, and cultivate independence in a supportive school environment. Ideal candidates bring specialized knowledge and a commitment to inclusive education, ensuring every student is empowered to achieve their fullest potential.
Qualifications and Skills:
Valid teaching certification appropriate for Teachers of the Visually Impaired Mastery of strategies and tools for teaching students with visual impairments Proficiency with Braille and adaptive technology for low vision/blind students Strong communication skills for collaborating with families and educational staff Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Understanding of best practices in accessible instruction and student advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to each student's strengths and goals Adapt materials and activities for accessibility, including Braille and technology Assess student abilities and progress, documenting outcomes and recommendations Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create inclusive learning environments Guide students in developing daily living and orientation & mobility skills Serve as a resource for faculty on best practices for supporting visually impaired students Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
