About Little Scholars AcademyAbout Little Scholars Academy Little Scholars Academy is a California State Preschool Program and NAEYC-accredited early learning organization committed to providing high-quality early education through strong instructional practices, family engagement, and continuous quality improvement. Our programs are designed to support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while fostering meaningful partnerships with families and the communities we serve. We are currently seeking a Site Director/Lead Teacher for both our Los Angeles and Long Beach locations. This dual-role position is ideal for an experienced early childhood professional who excels in both program leadership and classroom instruction. The Site Director/Lead Teacher will oversee daily operations, support and develop teaching staff, maintain compliance with State Preschool and NAEYC standards, and ensure the delivery of engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who is committed to educational excellence, staff development, family partnerships, and high-quality outcomes for children. Position Summary The Site Director / Lead Teacher provides leadership for daily program operations while serving as an instructional leader within the classroom. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with California State Preschool Program requirements, licensing regulations, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications Site Supervisor Permit required or willingness to obtain within 60 days of employment Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred Minimum three years of experience in a California State Preschool Program, CSPP, Head Start, or licensed early childhood setting Knowledge of Title 5, Title 22, DRDP assessments, Desired Results requirements, and child development best practices Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and coaching skills Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Preferred Experience NAEYC Accreditation and continuous quality improvement initiatives CLASS, ECERS, ITERS, QRIS, or other quality assessment systems Staff supervision, performance management, and instructional coaching Family engagement, parent education, and community partnership development Learning Genie, child assessment systems, and program data management State and federally funded early childhood programs, including CSPP, CCTR, and Head Start Essential Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight of daily site operations, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, California State Preschool Program requirements, funding terms, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards Lead, mentor, and develop teaching staff through coaching, professional development, classroom observations, performance feedback, and ongoing support to promote high-quality teaching practices Plan, implement, and model developmentally appropriate curriculum while supporting child assessments, DRDP documentation, school readiness goals, and positive child outcomes Maintain accurate program records, enrollment documentation, attendance, child files, assessments, and compliance reports in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements Foster meaningful partnerships with families through ongoing communication, conferences, family engagement activities, workshops, and community outreach initiatives Promote a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and culturally responsive learning environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of all children Support program growth, enrollment initiatives, accreditation efforts, monitoring reviews, licensing visits, and continuous quality improvement activities Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 pounds Ability to actively supervise and engage with children indoors and outdoors Ability to sit, bend, kneel, and move throughout the facility as needed What We Offer Competitive compensation based on education, permit level, and experience Professional development, leadership advancement, and permit support Paid holidays, training opportunities, and program closures Opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a high-quality State Preschool and NAEYC-accredited program Little Scholars Academy is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating a professional, supportive, and inclusive environment for children, families, and staff.
