Duties Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with state regulations and best practices in special education. Deliver instruction across multiple domains including literacy, math, social skills, and functional life skills using evidence-based strategies such as applied behavior analysis and behavioral therapy. Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, including those who are deaf or visually impaired. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists—to support student progress. Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies tailored for students with developmental disabilities. Utilize educational technology tools and learning software to enhance engagement and facilitate personalized learning experiences. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and instructional goals. Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor student achievement and inform instructional modifications. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for fellow educators to promote best practices in special education. Ensure compliance with all educational laws, regulations, and school policies related to special education services. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification/license in special education applicable to the relevant jurisdiction. Proven experience working with children with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or related conditions. Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP development, instructional modifications, and educational compliance standards. Proficiency in using learning technology platforms, educational software, and assistive devices for students with disabilities. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external specialists. Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with expertise in behavior management techniques for students with special needs. Experience teaching early childhood or preschool-aged children is highly desirable. Ability to adapt teaching strategies based on individual student assessments and progress monitoring.
