What they do
A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

- You must be cleared through BCOE Credentialing. If you have not already done so, please submit your interest to be cleared as a substitute teacher by copy and pasting this url: https://www.bcoe.org/Human-Resources/Substitutes/Certificated-Subs/index.html Once you submit your interest, a credential analyst will respond to your request (via email) within 24-48 business hours. Butte County Credentialing office will complete your DOJ Fingerprint background check and substitute teaching credentialing clearance process for all school districts in Butte County (except for Chico Unified School District). This clearance process must be completed with BCOE Credentialing BEFORE you can be cleared as a substitute teacher in the Thermalito Union Elementary School District.Requirements / Qualifications
