Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract For professionals passionate about making a lasting impact on students' lives, this contract opportunity is an excellent fit. As a teacher specializing in supporting students who are visually impaired, you'll bring both expertise and caring guidance to help your students thrive in the academic environment. Your role involves providing individualized and small group instruction, collaborating with other educators and specialists, and developing accessible curricula and materials. Advocacy, adaptability, and a strong understanding of students' unique needs will be key to your success.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Valid teaching credentials specializing in visual impairment education Proven experience working with students who are visually impaired Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families Proficiency in creating or adapting materials for accessibility, including using Braille and assistive technology Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress Compassion, patience, and creative problem-solving abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to visually impaired students, adapting methods to maximize each student's learning potential Collaborate with classroom teachers and support personnel to integrate students into general education settings when appropriate Evaluate student skills and create tailored educational plans Develop and adapt assessments, instructional materials, and technology resources Empower students by fostering self-advocacy and independent living skills Maintain thorough records and regularly communicate student progress to families and educational teams
