A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

August Position Summary The Instructional Aide provides classroom, instructional, and student support to help create a positive and effective learning environment. This role works closely with teachers and school staff to assist students academically, behaviorally, and socially while supporting daily classroom operations. Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Assist teachers with lesson implementation and classroom activities. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support. Reinforce learning objectives and help students achieve educational goals. Classroom Management Promote a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment. Monitor student behavior and implement teacher-directed behavior strategies. Support student engagement and participation. Student Support Provide individualized assistance to students with academic, behavioral, developmental, or physical needs. Support accommodations and modifications outlined in IEPs and 504 Plans. Encourage student independence and confidence. Documentation & Communication Track student progress and classroom observations. Maintain accurate records as required by school staff. Communicate relevant information to teachers and support personnel. Classroom Operations Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources. Organize supplies and maintain classroom readiness. Supervise student transitions, activities, and daily routines. Collaboration Partner with teachers, specialists, counselors, and administrators to support student success. Participate in meetings and training as required. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to meet district compliance and background check requirements. Strong communication, patience, adaptability, and teamwork skills. Ability to follow instructional and behavioral support plans. CPR Certification through American Heart Association (We can assist if you don't have it) Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children in educational, childcare, tutoring, or youth program settings. Experience supporting students with special needs. Knowledge of behavior intervention techniques and classroom support strategies. Familiarity with assistive technology and special education environments. Work Environment School-based classroom setting with frequent student interaction.
