Job Description
Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful position tailored for professionals dedicated to supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. A full-time DHH Aide is needed to provide specialized assistance and instructional support throughout the academic year. This contract role runs from August 26th through June 27th, with 37.5 hours scheduled each week. The setting offers an inclusive, welcoming environment where your expertise will empower learners and enhance classroom experiences.
Key Qualifications:
Experience as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or Hearing Impaired Specialist. Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptive communication strategies. Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families to deliver targeted support. Strong communication skills, including proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication modalities. Compassionate, patient approach to working with students of varying ages and abilities.Primary Responsibilities:
Support students in classroom and one-on-one settings to facilitate access to curriculum and classroom activities. Assist with adaptive technology and resources to aid classroom participation. Serve as a liaison between students, teachers, and support staff to address learning needs and accessibility. Reinforce instructional content, clarify assignments, and monitor student progress. Help foster a positive, supportive, and fully accessible learning atmosphere.
