Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference as a dedicated educator supporting students with visual impairments in a rewarding contract position. In this role, you'll work in an educational setting, utilizing your specialized skills to provide tailored instruction and resources to students with visual needs. Your expertise helps empower each learner to thrive academically and develop critical life skills.
Key Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain one Experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or closely related position in school environments Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques Excellent communication and organizational abilities for collaboration with parents, staff, and related service providers Demonstrated commitment to individualized education and inclusive practices
Primary Responsibilities:
Assess and support the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and accommodations Instruct students in Braille literacy, technology use, and independent living skills as required Consult with classroom teachers and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate accessible learning environments Participate in IEP meetings, maintaining required documentation and progress reports Foster a positive, adaptive atmosphere for learners to build confidence and independence The contract structure offers professional flexibility, the opportunity for meaningful impact, and a chance to expand your expertise alongside other passionate educators.
