A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Daily Pay Range:
$24
  • $30/hr Pay will vary for day-to-day assignments and is typically more for long-term placements.
Pay varies by certification, school, and assignment.

Required:
Highschool Diploma Preferred:
48 College credits Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor State & federal background checks TB risk assessment or test You'll stand out if you have: Worked with children who have Special Education needs Spent time in Special Education settings Any Special Education specific training ABA experience (Applied Behavior Analysis) Experience working in K-12 schools Experience with assisting in various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom What you'll do: Work closely with students with special needs in small group or 1:1 settings Build rapport and trust with the children in your care Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment Support resource teacher(s) in delivering IEP's (individual education plans) Take direction from lead educators and assist when needed Comfortable working with medically fragile/high behavior situations Sitting, standing, and walking, and able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings Additional role requirements will be in the handbook and shared during the interview process About Scoot Education Scoot Education is a thoughtful staffing partner with a mission to help create exceptional experiences in education.
