A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Provide prompts, discriminative stimuli, consequences and pace tasks as specified by the supervisor. Perform a variety of routine tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and busing. High school diploma. 2. Minimum two years' experience working with children with special needs. 3. AA degree or in psychology, child development or special education preferred. 4. Working on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) certification. 5. Experience working with children with who have difficulties with behavior and social skills desirable. 6. Minimum score on proficiency test. 7. Training in discrete trial therapy desirable.
