Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

The Teacher for the Visually Impaired provides students with appropriate learning experiences and activities designed to help them in social, intellectual, and emotional growth. The Teacher for the Visually Impaired organizes and implements an instructional program for visually impaired students. Enables students to develop competencies and skills to function in a successful and positive manner.- 40 hours a week 7:30am-4:30pm
Caseload:
Up to 18 students, Ages infant through 22- Classroom location: The position is itinerant, serving students in North County and Santa Ynez Valley. The base is the Farnel Santa Maria SBCEO office.
- The position is part of a team of 2 other TVIs.
Start:
As soon as possible (after successful interview, reference checks and onboarding)End:
June 2027 / end of school year. Also open to candidates who are only available for a portion of the assignment- $75/hr local or $3,279 weekly gross travel
