Job Description Summary:
This role is ideal for a dedicated Special Education Teacher passionate about serving students with moderate to severe disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. You will provide individualized instruction, assessment, behavior support, and educational planning for students with autism, multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, and related special education needs. The position requires strong collaboration with families, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive appropriate educational services and achieve meaningful progress toward IEP goals.
What You'll Do:
Deliver specialized instruction and behavioral support to students with moderate to severe disabilities. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Serve as Case Manager and facilitate IEP meetings. Assess student performance and monitor academic, behavioral, and developmental progress. Maintain accurate student records, reports, and compliance documentation. Collaborate with families, service providers, administrators, and support staff. Research and implement instructional materials, interventions, and accommodations. Train and supervise paraprofessionals and support staff assigned to the classroom. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and implement recommendations.
Experience You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree and completion of credential requirements. Education Specialist Instruction Credential - Moderate/Severe Disabilities or equivalent Special Education credential. Experience working with students with autism, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, emotional disturbances, or related special needs populations. Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance requirements. Experience in behavior management, differentiated instruction, and special education assessment. Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
