Pay Range:
$68,640 - $74,480 annually (DOE & credentials) About Switzer Learning Center Switzer Learning Center is a mission-driven nonpublic school dedicated to supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Our Diploma Track Program serves grades 5-12 and provides a structured, therapeutic, and academically rigorous environment where students can thrive and reach graduation. Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Middle School Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe credential) to join our Diploma Track Program. This role is ideal for an educator who is creative, flexible, and deeply committed to student growth—academically, socially, and emotionally. Schedule & Work Hours Monday-Friday Student hours: 8:30 AM - 3:10 PM Work hours: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM Key Responsibilities Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction using varied teaching methods (lecture, discussion, modeling, etc.) Implement academic and behavioral support plans consistently and effectively Support adolescent students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with special education requirements Required Qualifications Valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe) Minimum 2 years of experience working with students with special needs Experience working with adolescent students with social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills Creativity and flexibility in instructional planning and problem-solving Compensation & Additional Pay $68,640 - $74,480 annually , based on experience and credential Comprehensive Benefits Package Paid Time Off 10 days of paid sick leave annually 30+ paid vacation & holiday days annually, including: 12 paid holidays Winter recess (2 weeks) Spring recess (1 week) Summer recess interim break (2 weeks) Health & Wellness Medical, dental and vision insurance 100% paid for employee 50% employer-paid coverage for spouse/dependents Employee Assistance Program (EAP): confidential counseling, therapy, wellness tools, and life resources Long-term disability insurance, fully employer-paid Financial & Retirement 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with up to 5% employer match Life insurance policy equal to three times annual salary, fully employer-paid Eligible employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Additional Perks Discount tickets to entertainment, events, and attractions Aflac supplemental insurance options Paid onboarding and ongoing professional development Opportunities for internal growth and advancement Company-sponsored luncheons and special events Supportive leadership team and collaborative school culture
