A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

- $136,029 Annually Add'l Salary Info In establishing the placement of a new certificated employee, credit for certificated/credentialed experience will be recognized on a year-to-year basis up to a maximum of 12 years for experience.
- Educational Services (or designee), is responsible for facilitating the district's Attendance Recovery (AR) and student Independent Study (IS) program; identifies students eligible for IS contracts and communicates with students and families in order to recover missed days of student attendance; coordinates the completion, evaluation , and retention of student assignments missed due to absences; accurately completes, tracks, communicates, and retains the required paperwork necessary to recover missed days of student attendance; trains and supports district staff who participate in the AR/IS program; maintains through professional development the expertise necessary to facilitate compliant, effective, and efficient Attendance Recovery/Independent Study processes; and completes other duties related to the district's AR/IS program.
Experience Required:
Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience; five (5) years of successful teaching preferred. Experience or training in Attendance Recovery and/or Independent Study desired.
