In this vital role, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. Your expertise will help foster a nurturing learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with affective needs, ensuring they receive personalized education tailored to their unique abilities and challenges. Duties Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address each student's emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. Deliver engaging lessons across core subjects such as literacy, math, physical education, and social skills, utilizing innovative instructional design and learning technology. Incorporate evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), to promote positive behavior management and social development. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, mental health, and other specialists to support holistic student development. Monitor student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and ongoing observations; adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Manage classroom environments effectively to foster a safe, inclusive space conducive to learning for children with disabilities. Provide mentorship and guidance to students, encouraging their independence while supporting their emotional well-being. Skills Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or emotional/behavioral challenges. Strong knowledge of special education practices, including curriculum development tailored for affective needs. Expertise in classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and emotional regulation. Proficiency in using learning technology tools for instruction and assessment purposes. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and caregivers. Ability to design and adapt lesson plans that meet individual student goals aligned with IEP requirements. Familiarity with early childhood education principles, preschool experience, or toddler care is advantageous. Knowledge of sensory integration strategies for visually impaired or hearing-impaired students; experience in deaf education is a plus. Skills in behavioral health interventions such as behavioral therapy or recreational therapy to support student engagement. Experience in instructional design for diverse learners; ability to proofread educational materials for clarity and accuracy.
