Description:
Moffat County School District is looking for a motivated, caring, and enthusiastic person to fill a High School Special Education Teacher position at Moffat County High School. •
Salary:
Placement on the Certified salary schedule is commensurate with education and teaching experience. Base salary starting at $51,000. Education and/or
Experience:
Minimum requirement � Bachelor's degree(B.A.) from an accredited four year college or university. Should be familiar with working with at risk populations and associated interventions. Familiar with State and Federal IEP reporting requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Eligible or already in possession of a Colorado Teaching License/certificate endorsed in Special Education.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Along with parents and classroom teachers the Special Education teacher will assess students' skills to determine their needs and develop and implement Individualized Education Programs for each student based on their specific needs and abilities. Monitor the progress of these programs and update them as needed. Teach and mentor students one on one, in small groups, or as a class. Organize and assign activities to students based on their individual needs and learning abilities. Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals and staff who work with individuals with disabilities. Develop clear success criteria that is used as an instructional tool for students. Communicate clearly with students, parents, administration, and colleagues. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. Attends staff meetings and in-service training programs and serves on staff committees as required. Maintains records and makes such reports as required and directed by the administration.? Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The employee supervises students in the class, para professionals, and volunteers.

•Salary/pay rate is determined based on qualifications and experience relevant to the description requirements. Full pay range may be found on the appropriate salary schedule. Employees hired new into a position are rarely qualified to receive the maximum of the pay range shown on the salary schedule.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
