Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract To Hire Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher in an Intensive Resource Room serving elementary students with moderate to severe needs for the 25/26 school year. In this unique setting, you'll provide individualized instruction and care to a small group of six students (grades 1-6) with a range of exceptionalities, from Down syndrome to non-verbal autism. Many learners use AAC devices to communicate, allowing you to support their progress in innovative and meaningful ways. You'll collaborate with a dedicated team, including paraprofessionals who assist with daily routines and self-care, along with a supportive group of related service professionals (OT, SLP, SSW) who rotate in and out to enrich student experiences. The majority of your students' instructional day will take place in this classroom, creating the opportunity for lasting impact and continuous growth.
Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification or eligibility Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred Familiarity with AAC devices and communication supports is a plus Strong teamwork and communication abilities Flexibility and empathy in adapting to each student's needs
