A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

What You'll Do Design & Deliver Differentiated Instruction:
Create engaging, multi-disciplinary lessons tailored to each student's unique developmental and communication level. Integrate AAC into
Daily Learning:
Incorporate speech-generating devices and high-tech communication systems directly into literacy, math, and functional academics (training provided).
Lead Small Group Learning:
Guide 1:2 to 1:5 instructional rotations with active paraprofessional/aide support.
Track Meaningful Growth:
Monitor student progress, collect baseline data, and celebrate communication and academic milestones.
Collaborate Daily:
Partner closely with SLPs, related service providers, aides, and families to create a unified, supportive learning environment.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education (or related field).
Licensure:
Active Colorado Special Education Teaching License (or eligible for endorsement/reciprocity).
Experience:
1+ years of experience working with students with moderate-to-severe disabilities or complex learning needs (prior AAC/SGD experience is welcome, but a willingness to learn is what counts most).
