Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract To Hire A Special Education Teacher is needed to provide dedicated support in an Intensive Resource Room serving students with moderate to severe needs for the 2025-2026 school year. This classroom includes six students in grades 1st through 6th who require specialized instruction tailored to their unique learning profiles. Disabilities within the classroom range from Down syndrome to non-verbal autism, with students often using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices.

Woodland Park, CO Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of students. Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals who assist with daily routines and self-care needs. Coordinate with related service providers such as Occupational Therapists (OT), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), and Social Workers (SSW) who will support students through push-in and pull-out service models. Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) to ensure students make meaningful progress. Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and learning. Maintain clear communication with families, staff, and support personnel.Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with students who have moderate to severe disabilities. Familiarity with AAC devices and strategies to support non-verbal communication. Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and related service providers. Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to fostering student independence.
