JOB TITLE
Special Education Teacher

Director of Education/Principal
JOB SUMMARY
The Special Education Teacher will instruct a small caseload of students with the assistance of: teaching assistants, clinical social workers, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, certified special education teacher peers and educational director. We are a small therapeutic school located in Manchester CT. The school is part of the CCGC that has been connecting with families since1959.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishes meaningful connections with students as they work towards returning to their public-school settings Designs educational programs for students based on assessments and presents their findings at Team meetings and PPTs Maintains communication with sending districts, parents, certified special education teachers, school social workers, speech and language pathologist, teaching assistants and occupational therapist. Participates in ongoing professional development including the ARC framework and CPI Participates in the ordering of classroom supplies and teaching materials Assess and progress monitor students using formal and informal methods.
QUALIFICATIONS B.A.
required, M.A. preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
The Special Education Teacher shall be certified by the Connecticut State Department of Education holding a Special Education Certificate 165 or equivalent. DSAP candidate applicants are encouraged.
