Step into a rewarding contract opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher seeking to make a meaningful difference this fall. Located near the scenic Middletown, CT area, this full-time position supports high school students in both resource and co-teaching environments. Cover a maternity leave starting in September and continue through December — an ideal way to gain unique experience while fostering student success.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification, appropriate for high school level Recent experience working with high school-aged students in special education Strong collaboration skills for effective co-teaching Understanding of IEPs and ability to deliver personalized instruction Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Flexibility and commitment to providing student-centered support
Your Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support to high school students with diverse learning needs in both resource and inclusive classroom settings Co-teach with general education teachers, collaborating on lesson planning and classroom management Implement and monitor IEPs, ensuring all goals and accommodations are met Track student progress and document performance regularly Communicate with parents, staff, and administrators as needed Foster a welcoming environment that encourages student growth, engagement, and independence This is a full-time, 37.5-hour-per-week contract assignment, offering the chance to work closely with supportive colleagues and to make an impact in a dynamic learning environment.
