Norwalk, CT 06850 What You'll Be Doing Manage classroom and individual student behavior to create a positive learning environment. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with IEP goals, utilizing appropriate instructional techniques. Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and identify areas needing intervention. Maintain accurate records of student achievements, behavioral data, and progress reports. Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and IEP team members through conferences, reports, and updates. Facilitate IEP development, implementation, and review in collaboration with general education staff. Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, incorporating academic, social, and emotional growth strategies. Participate in professional development workshops to refine instructional strategies and promote best practices. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Special Education required; Master's degree preferred. Valid CT Teaching Certification in Special Education (4-8 or K-12). Current Physical Management Training (PMT) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification. Proven experience working with students with disabilities such as autism, learning disabilities, or developmental delays. Knowledge of IEP development, data collection, and behavior management strategies. Bilingual skills are a plus. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Experience in public schools with social/emotional/behavioral needs. Other Requirements Candidate must hold valid Connecticut teaching certification. Ability to work in a classroom setting, including outdoor or therapy spaces if necessary. Adept at working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and community resources.
