Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity making a difference in the lives of students as a special education teacher. Two full-time contract positions are available at a middle school for the upcoming school year, each providing essential academic and developmental support for learners in need.

Desired Qualifications:

Valid special education certification or eligibility for certification in Connecticut is required for both positions. Experience or training in reading intervention programs such as SPIRE, WILSON, or Orton-Gillingham is preferred for one position. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver instructional strategies tailored to diverse student learning needs. Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues. Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Position 1: Specialized Academic Instruction (6th Grade) Teach 6th grade English Language Arts and Math, including specialized reading and math instruction. Utilize research-based intervention programs to advance literacy and numeracy development. Collaborate with other educators to adapt curriculum and monitor progress. Position 2: Academic Assistance (Grades 6-8) Support students in grades 6-8, focusing on executive functioning skills and core subject area achievement. Guide small groups and individual students in a resource setting, helping them meet IEP goals. Foster independence, self-advocacy, and organizational skills. Both roles offer a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule (35-37.5 hours per week) for the entire school year.
