Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role this fall as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students in a resource room setting. This full-time, onsite position is designed to cover a maternity leave from late September through the end of December, providing continuity and expert instruction to a vibrant group of learners in grades 6-8. You'll be working with a manageable caseload of 20 students, delivering individualized support and collaborating closely with general education colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification (required) Demonstrated experience supporting students with diverse learning needs in a resource room or similar setting Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted instruction and intervention to students on your caseload, ensuring each learner's IEP goals are met Maintain accurate records and provide thorough documentation for student progress Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and adaptations Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, needs, and achievements Support a positive, encouraging classroom environment where all students feel welcomed and empowered This contract opportunity places you in a supportive environment where your expertise is valued and your impact is immediate.
