Job Description

National Childrens Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is one of the regions largest non-governmental providers of services for individuals with developmental disabilities, offering an array of services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and adults in the Washington metropolitan area. Our mission is to provide a lifetime of opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Summary:
Our Early Learning Center (ELC) strives to provide high-quality early childhood education and early intervention for children with and without disabilities in an inclusive educational setting. The Lead Teacher provides classroom leadership, design and implement intervention for children enrolled in the ELC, from 6 weeks-5 years old.
Schedule & Location:
The ELC is located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in SE Washington, DC. This position is Monday-Friday from either 8:00am-5;00pm or 8:30am-5:30pm, depending on program needs.

This position has an annual salary of $60,678 for an associate's degree in early childhood education and $71,010 for a bachelor's degree in early childhood education
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide supervision to classroom staff Promote a team atmosphere in the classroom Participate in the development and implementation of IFSP/IEPs Design and implement activities to meet each childs goals and objectives Ensure that written lesson plans, progress reports, data sheets, and other pertinent documentation is completed Prepare and present relevant information at team meetings, parent meetings and evaluative meetings Ensure that written and verbal communication with parent consistently occurs and is documented Maintain communication and work in collaboration with clinical team Make appropriate clinical referrals regarding materials, equipment service needs Assist in the monitoring of the medical and dietary needs of each child Facilitate family participation through home and center based activities Participate in staff training activities and staff development. Maintain appropriate cleanliness of room and materials including strict adherence to universal precautions
Management Responsibilities:
Co-manage Teacher Assistants Provide feedback to be used in Performance Evaluation of the
Teacher Assistants Education & Experience:
An Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development OR An Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college or university including at least fifteen (15) credit hours from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development and at least one (1) year of supervised experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction At least forty-eight (48) credit hours from an accredited college or university, at least fifteen (15) credit hours from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development and at least two (2) year of supervised experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction
