Job Description

This contract opportunity is tailored for an experienced 4th grade ELA Special Education Teacher for the 26/27 school year, focusing on co-teaching and resource support with an 80/20 instructional split. The school is located conveniently near the heart of DC.
Key Qualifications:
Active Special Education teaching license; educators with out-of-state certification are welcome to apply, though candidates licensed in the DMV area are especially encouraged. Experience co-teaching in upper elementary ELA or working in a resource capacity. Strong classroom management abilities and a collaborative approach to teaching. Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and fellow educators. Proficiency in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learning needs.
Main Responsibilities:
Partner closely with a general education teacher to deliver ELA content in a co-teaching model, focusing approximately 80% of your time on co-teaching and 20% on small group or resource interventions. Plan differentiated lessons and accommodations for students with IEPs, ensuring access to grade-level content. Monitor student progress and contribute to IEP meetings and documentation as needed. Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom setting. Maintain consistent communication with families and collaborate with team members to support student success. Fulfill contractual hours from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week, for the duration of the school year.
