Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting 4th grade students in a vibrant elementary school environment. This role is available for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year and focuses on delivering high-quality ELA instruction through both co-teaching and targeted resource support, structured around an 80/20 instructional split. Collaborate closely with general education staff to ensure differentiated instruction and inclusive practices, making a real difference in students' academic and personal growth.
Key Qualifications:
Current Special Education Teacher certification; open to candidates with active licensure from any state (DMV area preferred). Previous experience in special education settings, particularly at the elementary level. Strong knowledge of ELA content and best practices for individualized instruction. Comfortable with co-teaching models and providing resource support. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Core Responsibilities:
Co-teach ELA in the 4th grade classroom, working as part of an instructional team. Provide targeted support and interventions for students with diverse learning needs (approximate 80/20 split between co-teaching and resource). Create and implement IEPs, track student progress, and adjust strategies as needed. Participate in IEP meetings, parent communications, and collaborative planning. Support school-wide initiatives for equity, inclusion, and positive learning environments. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with special education policies. This full-time contract position is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering 40 hours per week. Candidates can expect compensation aligned with recent contract rates.
