Signing Bonus Opportunities Up to $7,500 for teachers hired into Self-Contained Special Education classrooms Up to $5,000 for teachers hired into Inclusion or General Special Education classrooms Eligible candidates must be selected for hire by July 17, 2026 . Inclusion / General
Education Special Education Classrooms Partner with general education teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, IEP implementation, and instructional support within inclusive learning environments. Specialized SPED Classroom Programs Communication & Education Support (CES) Support students with significant cognitive and communication needs. Behavior & Education Support (BES) Support students requiring intensive behavioral interventions and emotional supports. Behavior Learning Support (BLS) Support students with learning disabilities, autism, behavioral challenges, and related needs. Independence & Learning Support (ILS) Support students with intellectual disabilities through academic and life-skills instruction. Medical & Education Support (MES) Support students with significant medical, physical, and adaptive needs. Specific Learning Support (SLS) Support students with specific learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other learning challenges. Early Learning Support (ELS) Support young learners with developmental delays and early intervention needs. Essential Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction aligned with student needs and IEP goals Create positive, inclusive, and achievement-oriented learning environments Develop and implement lesson plans that support diverse learners Design and administer assessments to monitor student growth Use student data to guide instructional decisions Implement accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional strategies Collaborate with families, service providers, and school staff Support students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and functional development Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives Maintain compliance with Special Education requirements and documentation Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Valid District of Columbia teaching license issued by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), or eligibility to obtain one Strong instructional and classroom management skills Ability to effectively support students with diverse learning needs Commitment to continuous learning, growth, and collaboration Preferred Previous teaching experience Special Education experience Experience implementing IEPs and differentiated instruction Experience working in self-contained or specialized classroom settings Why Join DCPS?
