Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract This opportunity is for an experienced Special Education Teacher to support elementary students with autism in a public school setting. The position is based in Wilmington, DE, with a focus on Claymont Elementary School. The role runs on a contract basis from early February through mid-June.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with autism and diverse learning needs Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state guidelines Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to optimize student progress Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with stakeholders Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environmentQualifications and Experience:
Valid Delaware Special Education Teaching license is required (please attach license and resume with your application) Experience working with elementary students, particularly those on the autism spectrum, is preferred Strong knowledge of special education law, instructional strategies, and behavior management techniques Excellent communication and collaboration skills Candidates must be willing to complete an $85 fingerprint-based background check prior to employmentSchedule and Location:
Monday through Friday, 8:25 AM to 3:55 PM, including a 30-minute paid lunch break 37.5 hours per week Position located at Claymont Elementary School in Wilmington, DE This contract role provides the chance to make a meaningful difference in the education and development of young learners with special needs.
