A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.
Space Coast Discovery Overview We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Teacher (K-6) to lead a classroom and support the academic, social, and emotional growth of elementary-aged students. This paid position is ideal for an educator who is confident in classroom leadership, instructional planning, and creating an inclusive learning environment for students of all abilities. The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality instruction, managing the classroom, and collaborating with Assistant Teachers and school leadership. The ideal candidate has a strong background in elementary education and experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including autism and disabilities.
