Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a part-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired in an educational setting. This rewarding contract opportunity is perfect for an educator who is passionate about facilitating growth and independence for students with visual impairments. You will provide specialized support and adapt the learning environment for two elementary students in 3rd and 5th grade, working closely with them each school day from August 12, 2024, through June 1, 2025.
What You'll Bring:
Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience supporting students with visual impairments, especially in elementary settings Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and assistive technology for visually impaired learners Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and IEP teams Creative problem-solving abilities and a commitment to student inclusion
Your Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct, individualized instruction for two students in grades 3 and 5 Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility Assess students' skills and progress, updating goals as needed Provide consultation and resources to classroom teachers and parents Recommend and support use of specialized tools, technology, and modifications Maintain student records and contribute to IEP meetings This contract role offers the flexibility of 2-3 hours per day, making it an excellent fit for those seeking a part-time position while still making a significant difference in students' academic journeys.
