A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Child Care / Aftercare Special Needs Small Group Counselor Broward County Public Schools - School Year 2026-2027 A Sunshine application MUST be completed before an interview can be scheduled: https://sunshinefl.com/employment/ Sunshine is seeking energetic, dependable, and compassionate individuals who enjoy working with children with special needs in an after-school setting. This position involves providing direct supervision, support, and engagement for students with varying abilities while helping to create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. Responsibilities include assisting with the planning and implementation of activities designed to meet the needs and interests of special needs students. Staff may be assigned to supervise students in ratios of 1:1, 1:3, 1:5, or 1:10, depending on student needs and program requirements. Previous special needs experience or training is

Please note that this position may involve: Assisting students with personal care needs, including diaper changing and toileting assistance Managing challenging or disruptive behaviors Supporting students with communication, social, emotional, and behavioral needs Providing redirection, de-escalation, and behavior management strategies when necessary Assisting students with daily living skills and mobility as needed To be eligible for hire, applicants must be available to work: Monday through

PM Minimum Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Must successfully clear federal and local background checks (School Board fingerprinting required) Must complete a standard physical within 48 hours of hire (scheduled and paid for by Sunshine) Must complete 45 hours of Child Care training courses within one year of employment Must complete CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire (scheduled and paid for by Sunshine) Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English Must have reliable transportation Must be a team player with a positive attitude and a genuine desire to work with children
