Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across K-12 settings in Southeast Florida. As an Itinerant DHH specialist, you will travel between multiple schools, partnering with teams to deliver exceptional educational services and make a meaningful difference for students and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instructional and support services for students K-12 who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Collaborate with general and special education staff to optimize learning experiences and facilitate inclusion. Assist in conducting and supporting Functional Listening Evaluations (FLEs) and Usher Screenings throughout the district. Collect and upload audiological evaluation data into the PEER system, ensuring up-to-date and accurate student records. Act as a resource for staff and families regarding best practices and accommodations for students with hearing loss. Travel between multiple district schools, efficiently managing a dynamic caseload. Maintain compliance with all state and district guidelines for service delivery and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Active Florida Department of Education Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Proven experience or strong knowledge in serving school-aged DHH students. Ability to manage and organize services across multiple locations. Fingerprinting required (current prints may be accepted if on file with DOH). Effective communicator who works well both independently and collaboratively. Familiarity with collecting audiological data and collaborating with audiologists preferred.
