School Year Summary of Position:
Carrollton Public Schools is seeking a caring, certified Special Education Teacher who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of students. This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing standards-aligned instructional programs within a supportive learning environment. The teacher will work to ensure that special education students are provided with appropriate instruction, services, and supports necessary to achieve their full academic, social, and emotional potential.

Building Principal and Supervisor of Special Education Compensation :
In accordance with the Carrollton Education Association (CEA) Master Agreement. Salary placement will be based on years of verified teaching experience.
Essential Job Functions :
Plan, develop, and deliver instructional services aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and identified educational needs Coordinate, schedule, and monitor initial and ongoing IEP meetings, including development of goals, objectives, and classroom accommodations Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to ensure student success in inclusive environments Differentiate and individualize instruction using evidence-based practices, including positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) Demonstrate understanding of various disabilities and their impact on learning, serving as a resource to staff as needed Observe, assess, and monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain accurate documentation and ensure confidentiality of all student and family information Promote and maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment Demonstrate self-direction, initiative, and strong organizational and multitasking skills Utilize technology effectively, including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom) and Microsoft Office applications Serve as a member of building-based support and positive behavior intervention teams as assigned Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct at all times Ensure a safe and structured environment for all students Participate in required conferences, workshops, and professional development opportunities Greet and interact with visitors in a professional and welcoming manner Maintain regular and reliable attendance as an essential job requirement Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or
Supervisor of Special Education Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate (Grades 9-12) with Special Education endorsement, or eligibility for temporary approval Preferred (not required): Additional certification or experience in English Language Arts or Mathematics Strong understanding of special education law, procedures, and the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience working with at-risk students and families preferred Must satisfactorily pass: Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check Under 1996 P.A.189 of 1996; MCL380.1230b. Law enforcement background checks with fingerprinting. Personal and professional reference background check .
