K-5. ICS
was strategically designed in 2002 to bring together refugee, immigrant and local children in an academically challenging and nurturing environment. Today, the school serves 500 students annually representing more than 60 nationalities and speaking 31 languages. Job Summary:
The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing dynamic classroom instruction to students with specific learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, autism, other health impairments, and emotional and behavioral disorders. The Special Education Teacher will also serve as a case manager for students who receive special education services. As the case manager, SPED Teacher will assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate throughout the continuum of services under the direction of the leadership team.

Immediately Essential Duties:
Teach content and skills in all subject areas utilizing curriculum designated by ICS through the Georgia Standards of Excellence along with the effective implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) Develop lesson plans; identify instructional materials; asses equipment needs to augment instruction; maintain student data; utilize a variety of instructional strategies to improve student achievement in a general curriculum; and promote positive student behavior Evaluate academic and social growth of students (pre-post tests), analyze data, prepare report cards, keep appropriate records (to include attendance reports, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities) as necessary Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive, and safe classroom environment Instruct students based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs); assess and monitor student Schedule and prepare relevant paperwork; conduct IEP meetings Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals regarding students' educational programming Participate in professional development, staff meetings, collaborative planning, home visits, and school-wide initiatives to enhance student learning and instructional effectiveness. Participate in staff meetings and support student activities (i.e. IB Exhibition, Drama, and Photography Club) Administer mandated tests in accordance with the testing department of ICS and the DeKalb County School District Develop a multicultural learning community that emphasizes respect Engage with the community and work with translators and social service providers to help ensure a continuum of support between the home and school Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with Special Education Certification (P-5) from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
