Archdiocese of Atlanta Job Description Status:

Exempt.

Reporting Status:

Reports to building Principal or his/her designee regarding all matters concerning classroom teaching.

Responsibilities:

Be knowledgeable of and support school's mission and philosophy. Have working knowledge of school policies as they are articulated in the school's handbooks. Demonstrate expertise in the area of teaching. Serves on SST as appropriate. Network with other building personnel. Maintain student achievement records. Conduct parent conferences as scheduled and/or requested. Attends meetings as scheduled. Collaborates effectively with administrators, other teachers and parents. Maintain classroom in such a way that is conducive to learning. Maintain open communication with parents as defined in local handbook. Demonstrate care in lesson planning-execution. Secure appropriate permission for educational activities. Submit all external communications to the administration for approval prior to distribution. Make appropriate provisions for substitute teachers when necessary. Complete required school forms promptly. Represent school in a positive fashion. Other duties as assigned by the principal or his/her designee.

Time Allocation:

190 days per contract.

Education, Training and Experience:

Certification required for secular subjects (for hires after 7/1/08). Prior teaching experience in Catholic School highly desirable. Evidence of specific coursework in education. Bachelor's Degree in assigned content area.

Represents the school and the archdiocese in a positive and professional manner. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work with a variety of people. Appreciation for and affection of children. Ability to multi-task. Ability to be flexible. Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Computer literate.

Salary:

Archdiocesan Teacher Salary Scale.

Working Environment:

Preference in hiring is given to practicing Catholics in full communion with the teachings of the Catholic Church. All teachers must show respect for the institutions of the Roman Catholic Church.

COMMENTS

The work week is generally 40 hours per week; however, the position requires a willingness and flexibility in work hours when necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
