Job Description

The Lattice School, a division of Lyndon Academy, is collecting resumes for a Special Needs Teacher.

Scope or Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the instruction and evaluation of students, maintaining good order in the classroom by managing student conduct, and providing a moral and ethical role model both on and off campus.
Essential Functions:
  • Deliver essential content as outlined in the course description and standards of education
  • Evaluate students frequently using best practices of assessments, both formative and summative
  • Give frequent feedback to students and parents regarding their progress
  • Differentiate instruction based on student learning styles and needs
  • Attend to parent concerns and communicate with parents when their child is struggling in a manner that is professional and compassionate
  • Maintain positive rapport with students
  • Keep current in areas of pedagogy, skills, and content
  • Set annual professional development goals aimed at advancing the quality of teaching and learning
  • Embrace a spirit of collaboration with colleagues
  • Interact professionally with adults & students within the guidelines of the Faculty & Student Handbooks
  • Maintain professional standards of dress and grooming
  • Be present in a classroom or designated area during the assigned times as well as at other times outside of the school day as required by the Head of School
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment
  • Attend regular meetings, departmental, faculty, etc.
  • Be present at school assemblies and supervise students
Other Information:
This is a full‐time position with an expectation of around 190 days of service per year.
Minimum Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree is required. SPED Certification is required. Master's degree is preferred. Preferred training in Orton Gillingham Teaching experience (may include student teaching) Fluency in English (written & oral) A minimum of 2 references A clean reputation and clean GBI and FBI background checks with fingerprinting Georgia PSC Certification or willing to apply for certification Routine physical activity is required w/ children.
