Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity guiding an elementary classroom designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive challenges. In this dynamic adapted curriculum setting, you'll make a meaningful impact by fostering independence and holistic growth in a self-contained environment. You'll work full-time throughout the school year, surrounded by committed professionals who share your passion for exceptional education.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, individualized instruction using adapted curriculum standards tailored to each student's needs. Design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Manage daily classroom routines and support systems to ensure a structured, positive learning environment. Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to maximize student success. Collect and assess student data to drive instructional decisions and measure progress. Differentiate teaching strategies to meet a wide spectrum of learning profiles. Support the development of student communication, social, behavioral, and functional living skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Georgia Special Education certification is required. Proven background working with elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a classroom setting. Hands-on experience developing and carrying out IEPs. Strong classroom management and effective behavior intervention skills.
Preferred:
Experience in adapted curriculum instruction, ABA principles, structured teaching models, visual supports, and functional communication systems. Familiarity with supervising paraprofessionals in a self-contained environment is a plus.
