Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Empower the next generation of learners by making a difference as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic, supportive environment. This full-time contract opportunity is focused within the GNETS program at the middle school level, delivering vital behavioral, social-emotional, and academic supports to students who benefit most from individualized instruction. Collaborate closely with educators, families, and specialists to create positive outcomes every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted instruction utilizing the GNETS framework for middle school students. Create, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to diverse academic and behavioral needs. Apply positive behavior supports and effective intervention strategies. Work in partnership with administrators, families, and related service providers. Track and document student growth, ensuring compliance and progress. Differentiate instruction confidently across all core academic subjects. Maintain a structured, safe, and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Special Education General Curriculum Certification in all content areas. Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management and behavioral intervention techniques. Proven experience developing, writing, and implementing IEPs. Completion of three reference checks, including one from a recent supervisor.
Preferred:
Prior experience in GNETS or similar alternative settings, and with students exhibiting emotional/behavioral challenges. CPI, de-escalation, or behavior management training a plus.
