A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Duties Montessori Experienced+1 Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote literacy, math, physical education, and overall child development aligned with Montessori principles when applicable Create a warm, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and social-emotional growth Manage daily classroom activities, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to schedule while maintaining high standards of behavior management and classroom management Foster positive relationships with children through engaging lessons, individualized attention, and support for their unique developmental needs Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety regulations, such as first aid and CPR certifications Qualifications Prior experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting is essential; Montessori experience is highly preferred Demonstrated knowledge of child development principles, early intervention strategies, special education needs, and childhood welfare practices Strong skills in curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, behavior management, and standardized testing when applicable Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and team collaboration Certification in first aid and CPR required; ongoing professional development in early childhood education encouraged Experience teaching physical education or integrating movement into daily activities is a plus Flexible, Available and agrees in challenging children.
