Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid teaching certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in a public school setting Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired learners Strong communication and collaboration abilities Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Compassionate, patient, and flexible teaching approach
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and adaptive support to students with visual impairments, both individually and in group settings Assess student needs and adapt instructional methods/materials for optimal accessibility Consult with general education teachers and staff to support classroom inclusion Support development of independent living, orientation, and mobility skills Contribute to IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and documentation Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members
