Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting middle school students in a specialized environment designed to meet their unique needs. As a Special Education Teacher for the GNETS (Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Supports) program, you'll work with students who benefit from intensive behavioral, social-emotional, and academic supports. This full-time position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students who require skilled and compassionate guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and specialized instruction aligned with student IEPs in the GNETS program. Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications. Utilize proven behavioral interventions and positive behavior supports to create an effective learning environment. Collaborate closely with administrators, service providers, families, and support staff for holistic student support. Document and track student progress while ensuring compliance with educational requirements. Provide differentiated instruction across core academic subjects. Establish and maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active Georgia Special Education General Curriculum Certification, including multiple academic content areas (documentation required). Solid knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies and classroom management. Demonstrated experience with writing and implementing IEPs. Completion of three reference checks, including one recent supervisory reference. Prior experience in GNETS or alternative education settings strongly preferred. CPI or behavior management training is advantageous. Background in supporting students with emotional and behavioral disorders is highly beneficial. You'll work directly with middle school students who present varied and significant behavioral and social-emotional needs—making your expertise invaluable.
